The synergy between the Schools of Industrial Engineering and Telecommunication Engineering and BorgWarner not only diversifies the education of our students towards a profile of professional excellence, but also consolidates a bridge for bidirectional knowledge transfer. Thanks to the strong technological component of our programmes, BorgWarner will be able to strengthen its strategic areas with new talent and innovative solutions emerging from the core of our Schools. 

Objectives

The Chair’s action plan is designed with the aim of achieving the following strategic objectives:

  • To consolidate an excellence training programme that connects students from the EET and the EEI with BorgWarner’s cutting-edge technological lines, ensuring a pool of highly specialised professionals.
  • To promote the external projection of the teaching and research activities of both Schools, enhancing knowledge transfer between the university and the automotive industry.
  • To actively collaborate in the Tutorial Action Plan and the Mentoring Plan of the Schools, while also supporting student association initiatives that add value to the technical and personal development of students.
  • To promote training initiatives aimed at the continuous updating of skills, aligning the capabilities of the university community with the company’s competitive demands and technological challenges.
  • To organise technical workshops, conferences and seminars that position the Chair as a benchmark for discussion and dissemination in its areas of engineering.

2026 activities

In the year 2026, the BorgWarner-UVigo Chair promoted and sponsored the following activities:

The University of Vigo and the company BorgWarner Emissions Systems Spain launched the BorgWarner-UVigo Chair on February 20, 2026. This formalized the collaboration between the Schools of Telecommunication Engineering (EET) and Industrial Engineering (EEI) and BorgWarner.

At this event, the BorgWarner-UVigo Chair, which sponsors one of the awards with €2,000, participated with an address by Telmo Calle, Director of BorgWarner’s Spanish Technical Center for Electronics..
