This international day -11th February-, approved by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 2015, aims to achieve full and equal access and participation of women and girls in the scientific field. It is a day of remembrance that serves as a reminder that women have a fundamental role in science and technology.
On the occasion of this celebration, the EET has been organising for years a workshop session related to programming and robotics under the umbrella of the activity Elas Fan CienTec of UVigo.
In this session, high school students visit our centre and do workshops led by students of Telecommunications Engineering, coordinated by the person who serves as the Equality liaison for the center. This activity is sponsored by the Indra Chair.
In addition, EET female professors and researchers also celebrate this day with talks in primary and secondary schools: small informative oral presentations related to the participation of women in the scientific-technological field. In 2021, we did a total of eight activities of this type.
