It was also the first Spanish satellite under the CubeSat standard. We developed it at the University of Vigo with the collaboration of INTA (National Institute of Aerospace Technology).
School professor Fernando Aguado Agelet coordinated the work that allowed the XaTcobeo to be the winner of the Fly Your Satellite program of the European Space Agency, and to be launched into space on the inaugural flight of the Vega rocket. This satellite carried on board several instruments for the investigation of satellite communications and characterization of radiation in Earth orbit.
