He was elected director of the EET in an election in which he ran as the only candidate, after obtaining 88.6% of the votes cast. He was already part of the team of the previous director -Edita de Lorenzo- as deputy director of New Degrees. In 2018 he was re-elected until March 4, 2021.

During this stage, two new Master’s degrees were offered (Cybersecurity and Computer Vision), in addition to a line in English for the Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunication Technology Engineering, which promoted the acceptance of students from international programs such as Erasmus.

In terms of quality, the Bachelor’s Degree obtained the European EurACE accreditation and the School obtained institutional accreditation, as a result of the renewal of the accreditation of all Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree programs, and of the quality assurance system.

The mentoring program for first-year students, MEET, which was adopted by other centers of the University of Vigo and supported by a multidisciplinary team of volunteer faculty for the training of mentors, was consolidated, and the first steps were taken towards the establishment of a formal orientation program, orientaTE.

The renovation and updating of the interior spaces of the original school building also began, improving the habitability of the facilities.

The last year of this stage was marked by home confinement due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This situation prompted the digitalization of the School’s administration and teaching, and also the adaptation of teaching spaces for face-to-face, blended or fully online teaching, maintaining activity at all times and having updated and operational health safety and academic contingency plans.
