LPRO, Laboratory of Projects, is a compulsory course in the second semester of the 4th year in which students work on interdisciplinary projects. Each team ─made up of five to seven students and two professors─ works on the design and implementation (hardware and software) of a prototype that provides a solution to a previously proposed problem.
At least two of the four Mentions of the Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunication Technologies Engineering must be represented in the student team and the two faculty members must belong to different departments, in order to enrich and facilitate synergies between work areas.
The proposed problems are usually linked to an external company or institution with which the team works to define the best viable solution.
At the end of the semester, information sessions are held and the people attending can interact with the prototypes. Moreover, representatives of the Galician business fabric take part in the judgement of the prototypes to grant prizes.
The activity will take place on Friday, May 9, at the Verbum Museum (Vigo), with morning sessions for educational centers and an afternoon session open to the general public. Below, we provide details about the event in case you are interested in participating.
What is the purpose?
To showcase the potential of new technologies in solving everyday problems across various fields (e.g., Internet of Things, virtual reality, wearable devices, traffic control systems, healthcare, and assistance for people with disabilities) and to highlight the training capabilities of the School of Telecommunication Engineering (EET) in these technologies through projects developed by its students.
What does it involve?
Throughout the event, final-year students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunication Engineering Technologies will present the prototypes they have developed. Visiting students will have the opportunity to interact with the prototypes and ask questions about the projects, including technical, methodological, and competency-related aspects. Additionally, a brief technical talk will be given.
Our goal is to uncover some of the ‘secrets’ of new technologies and demonstrate their vast potential.
To accommodate as many students as possible, four identical morning sessions will be held, each limited to 125 students.
How long does it last?
The activity has a total duration of 120 minutes, which includes:
Hands-on experience with the prototypes
A brief technical talk
Session schedule:
First session: 9:30 AM
Second session: 10:30 AM
Third session: 11:30 AM
Fourth session: 12:30 PM
