Domingo Docampo Amoedo, professor at EET, was rector for two terms (eight years in total), with a reelection in April 2002.
During his term of office, the Organic Law of Universities (LOU) came into force, a regulation that generated an intense work of adaptation of university management and teaching. He also gave a boost to the Las Lagoas-Marcosende Campus, with a special effort in the construction of buildings and facilities necessary for teaching and research work.
