In October 1985, the Telecommunication Engineering degree began to be taught, a five-year course in which the first year had contents common to all engineering degrees. The degree depended on the University of Santiago de Compostela, which had not yet split into the current Galician University System. The training was given at the current School of Industrial Engineering. The first class was held on November 2nd.
This degree was the third to be implemented in Spain, after the degrees of the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.
At that time we did not yet have the current building, so teaching was established in the building of the School of Industrial Engineering.
