Scientific and technological advancements would not be possible without the contributions of women, whose work and dedication are fundamental to the development of today’s society. Their presence in research not only drives knowledge forward but also enriches the diversity of perspectives needed to tackle future challenges.
To mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the University of Vigo, through the Scientific and Innovation Culture Unit and the Equality Unit, has organized a wide range of activities. Workshops, fairs, exhibitions, and competitions make up a program designed to highlight the essential role of women in science and innovation.
The goal of this initiative is to give visibility to women researchers, inspire young girls to pursue scientific careers, and establish female role models in the field of R&D, contributing to the creation of a more equal future.
The School of Telecommunication Engineering (EET) is taking part in the ninth edition of the Elas Fan CienTec workshops for secondary school girls, which will take place on February 11, 2025.
For this edition, 60 secondary school female students from IES Castelao in Vigo will participate in two hands-on workshops:
- Image Detectives
- Robotics with CuteBot
