This lecture addresses the importance of encryption in military contexts and its application on the Internet today. In particular, it focuses on the Third Reich’s use of the Enigma Machine during World War II and the Allied efforts to break Nazi messages, presenting the Enigma Machine and its electromechanical mechanism.
The lecture will be given by Germán Sáez Moreno, professor of mathematics at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and member of the Research Group on Mathematics Applied to Cryptography.
